Chapter X — SPECIAL PROVISIONS RELATING TO LAY-OFF, RETRENCHMENT AND CLOSURE IN CERTAIN ESTABLISHMENTS

Rule 31. Application to continue lay-off.

(1) The employer shall, in case of an industrial establishment being a mine, where the workers other than badli workers or casual workers have been laid-off for reasons of fire, flood or excess of inflammable gas or explosion, within a period of thirty days from the date of commencement of such lay-off, make an application in Form-XIV to the Central Government electronically and by speed post with a copy to the concerned Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) for permission to continue the lay-off–

31(1)(a) specifying the number of days;

31(1)(b) specifying the number of workers to be laid off;

31(1)(c) the total number of workers employed in the industrial establishment;

31(1)(d) the date of lay-off; and

31(1)(e) the reasons for continuation of such lay-off.
